Summary
PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) is undertaking the construction of Kaltim III Coal fired steam power plant project in Indonesia.

The project involves the construction of a 200MW (2x100MW) coal-fired steam power plant, a powerhouse, coal storage tanks, combustion chambers, steam generating units, pipeline infrastructure, cooling towers and chimneys, the installation of turbines, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines. The project will be developed in two phases.

On August 10, 2016, PLN issued the pre-qualification tenders for a build own operate and transfer (BOOT) contract, with a submission deadline of September 28, 2016.

The selected general contractor will develop, finance, construct and operate the project on a BOOT basis with a concession period of 25 years under a power purchase agreement (PPA).

In May 2017, Jiangxi Jiusheng International Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd (JXJS) has been appointed as US$328 million worth BOOT contractor.

In February 2018, PLN signed MoU with Astra Group.
