Royal Oman Police (ROP) is undertaking the construction of a healthcare complex in Muscat, Oman. The project involves the construction of a 90,000m2 healthcare facility comprising a main hospital and 20 auxiliary buildings. It will be built in phases with 400-600 beds. The first phase involves the construction of a six-story, 400-bed hospital, featuring a cancer center in the basement level, a trauma center on the ground floor, a children’s clinic on the first floor, a women's clinic on the second floor, a cardiac center on the third floor, a surgery department on the fourth floor and a VIP accommodation facility on the fifth and the sixth floors. The project includes the construction of orthopedic units, diagnostic and treatment zones, ambulatory care, research and education facilities, a multi-story staff accommodation facility, residential units, substations, a sewerage treatment plant, a multi-story car parking structure and related infrastructure. Option One International WLL has been appointed as project manager.

Civil and Environmental Engineering Group and Al Manarah Engineering Consultancy have been appointed as engineering and design consultants and Hepworth, Oman as supply contractor.

On July 16, 2011, ROP issued a request for proposals for the provision of architectural services, with a submission date of September 11, 2011. Subsequently, Archplan Architects & Planners and WS Atkins plc were appointed as architects.

On April 21, 2013, ROP initiated a pre-qualification process for the appointment of a contractor, with a submission date of May 12, 2013.

On January 3, 2015, Galfar Engineering and Contracting SAOG (Galfar) was appointed as construction contractor for the first phase. The contract value is US$555 million.

In fourth quarter of 2015, construction activities were commenced on the first phase.

On July 3, 2016, ROP invited tenders from companies to provide healthcare management services with August 21, 2016, as the submission date.

Construction activities on the first phase and planning activities on the second phase are underway.
