Summary
Taylor Wimpey (TW) is undertaking the Great Western Park Development project in Didcot, Oxfordshire, the UK.

The project involves the construction of 3,300 homes across an area of 179ha. The project includes the construction of access roads, water supply system, sewerage systems, power related facilities, district center, three schools, university technical college, healthcare facilities, and the extension to Southport Commerce Park to provide new offices, commercial buildings.

The project will be implemented in three neighborhoods.

First neighborhood, the Northern neighborhood, includes the construction of 1,029 dwellings. Second neighborhood, the District neighborhood, includes the construction of 1,127 dwellings and the third neighborhood, the Southern neighborhood, includes the construction of 1,361 dwellings.

PRP Architects has been appointed as the design contractor; Arcadis Project Managers as the PMC contractor; David Wilson Homes, Bellway Homes, Henry Davidson Developments and Persimmon Homes as the associated developers; Claude Fenton Construction Ltd as the construction contractor for the pavilion, Kier Construction as the construction contractor for the school.

Construction works are being undertaken by the in-house division of TW.

In March 2014, Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) will provide loan for US$77 million to TW for the development of the infrastructure facilities.

In June 2014, Town councilors urged TW to build the cycle path between the new entrance to the estate in Wantage Road and Foxhall Road, along with a toucan crossing to be installed on Wantage Road, between Oxford Crescent and Drake Avenue. The designs are being considered by Oxfordshire County Council.

In June 2015, community center construction was completed.

On July 9, 2015, construction on US$5 million two-story sports pavilion commenced.

In March 2016, plans are underway in regard to setting up a new 420-space Chalkhill Primary School to support Great Western Park children with better education facilities.

Oxfordshire County Council is in plans to fund US$15 million for the Chalkhill Primary School project.

RPS Group Plc was appointed to provide planning, environmental and master-planning services.

In November 2017, Henry Davidson Developments completed the district neighborhood center as part of the project, which includes an Asda supermarket, 10 retail units, a public house, 20 apartments, a children’s day nursery, a dentist surgery, a chemist and a care facility.

Construction activities on the project are underway and expected to be completed by 2022.
