Summary
Virtue Dragon Nickel Industry (VDNI) is undertaking the construction of a nickel smelting plant in Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia.

The project involves the construction of a 3 million TPA nickel smelting plant on 2,200ha of land supported by a 569MW power plant and a port. It is being built in three phases.

The US$1,000 million first phase includes the development of the smelter plant with a maximum production capacity of 600,000TPA on 500ha of land.

The US$2,500 million second phase includes the expansion of the production capacity to 2millionTPA on 700ha of land.

The third phase includes the further expansion of the production capacity to 3millionTPA on 1000ha of land.

It includes the construction of production units, processing units, control rooms, storage units, loading and unloading units, a powerhouse, a substation, access roads and related infrastructure.

In 2015, Construction work on the first phase was completed.

Construction works on the 569MW power plant has been completed.

Construction works on the second phase are underway and VDNI awaiting approvals from Directorate General of Development for Industrial Areas (DGDI) for the third phase of the project.
